Nastirium officinalis is a perennial with dense rosette-shaped leaves. Fast-growing, its creeping, branching stems allow this cress to grow abundantly in wetlands, reaching up to 60 cm in diameter.

It flowers from April to September and appears in the form of small clusters of white flowers with yellow stamens.
